🙂 accessible, balanced, engaging // Nicky // 55 mins. // spotify 🎵
Did you know we have written records of our yogi ancestors practicing alternate nostril breathing as early as the 13th century? In todays class we’ll begin with a micro history lesson, and a seated breathing practice. Please feel free to skip ahead to 9:17 if you want to move straight into the dynamic vinyasa portion of the class which includes lunges, backbends, and some nice long holds in pigeon pose.
Artwork referenced in class: Equivalence of Self and Universe: Folio 6 from the Siddha Siddhanta Paddhati Bulaki. India Rajasthan, 1824. Opaque water-colour and gold on paper. Meergargh Museum Trust. This late medieval image shows clearly the image of the sun and moon, ida and pingala nadi on the yogins body representing the lunar and solar channel. This is a close up of the face but you can view the full image if you are interested here.
